Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I liked it a lot and I didn't want it to end. Maybe the main reason for it's success is due to the fact that, the same as it's prequel, it's a story anyone can read and enjoy; teenagers, young adults and older folks will have a great time reading it. The author's afterword rounds up nicely the close relation with Ender's Game; as it is common with other authors early works these two novels were supposed to be one. My guess is that the editor saw two quite different stories within the first manuscript and Voila! the Ender Saga commenced.
I particularly like the portuguese / brazilian aura surrounding the story; the colony being of a catholic license and the mixing of political, ethical and scientific dilemmas caught my attention from the beginning. I truly recommend this novel to ANYONE.
